Behavioral Health Therapist 4 Addiction Treatment Services Fairfax, VA, United States Job Identification: 685814 Posting Date: 07/11/2026, 10:40 PM Job Schedule: Full time Locations: Inova 8221 Willow Oaks Job Description: Inova Behavioral Health Center Fairfax is looking for a dedicated Behavioral Health Therapist IV to join the Comprehensive Addiction Treatment Services (CATS) - Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) Merrifield team. Full-time Day Shift: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 12-9pm Tuesday & Friday 8:30-4:30 p.m. This position is required to be in office 2 days per week. Featured Benefits:

The Behavioral Health Therapist 4 serves as clinical expert providing a range of therapeutic services, psychoeducational programming and behavioral interventions to assist the client in achieving progress towards the goals and objectives of individualized treatment plans. Assesses and diagnoses mental health and/or substance use disorders through a bio/psycho/social department specific and evidenced based assessment identifying patient and family goals/needs. Serves as a clinical leader by providing clinical supervision to team members seeking licensure as well as supervision/mentoring of graduate students during clinical internships. Minimum Qualifications:
  • Certification - Basic Life Support within 3 months of hire; Crisis Prevention Institute in-person training for non-violent crisis intervention, receive CPI blue card within 6 months of hire, After 9/1/25, Vistelar replaces CPI for new and renewed de-escalation certifications. Approved Clinical Supervisor within 3 months
  • Licensure - Upon start: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP), or Licensed Substance Abuse Professional (LSATP)
  • Experience - Five years of experience post licensure in mental health/substance use disorder treatment, psychoeducational programming including targeted, evidence-based interventions (crisis intervention, trauma, and integrative therapies)
  • Education - Master's Degree, Ph.D., PsyD, EdD in Mental Health, Social Work, Counseling, Substance Use Disorders or Behavioral Health-related field.
